MIDWEST HAUNTERS CONVENTION 2 WEEKS AWAY



This will be the sixth year for the Midwest Haunters Convention (MHC). Over 1800 people attended the 2008 MHC in Columbus, Ohio. With rave reviews and increased exposure, we expect this number to exceed 2000 attendees this
June 5, 6 & 7 2009.

Convention participants are comprised of haunt producers, actors, makeup artists, scene builders, exhibitors and home haunters. The MHC will be held at the Columbus Convention Center and the Hyatt Regency Hotel, downtown Columbus. We’ll provide over 40 classroom seminars, nearly 100 vendor spaces and numerous special events; we’re bringing back the Monster Make-up Wars, The Body Art Fashion Show and the Ms Midwest Scary Pageant.

New this year is the Midsummer Monster Bash, Friday June 5th. Come enjoy the party while we provide real haunter entertainment; an acting contest, a costumed band, Scary-oke, celebrity hosts and some of the newest props on the market. Road Peet-Zah Recording Artists, Scarlet Angel, is a four-piece metal ensemble forged in the wilds of Baltimore , Maryland , USA by lead-guitarist, Michelle Armiger. The band is unique in that it consists of three female members: Jackie Joyce - Lead Vocals; Kim Yates - Drums & Vocals; and Michelle Armiger - Guitar; and one male member (no pun intended): Rich Wilcox. The Inaugural Midwest Haunters Convention
Improvisational Acting Competition

Competition Categories
(Each category is based on a rating scale of 1-10; 50 possible best)

• Overall appearance (make-up, costume, props)
• Verbal performance
• Improvisational interactive ability (how you interact/entertain our guests)
• Body/Character Movements
• Overall Performance (bonus points)

Five actors will have an opportunity to compete in an interactive acting contest with our audience members during the party. The Scab 5 will be the deciding factor in determining the final 5 contestants. You’ll be introduced on stage and then perform in 5 different scenes (2 minutes in each scene) throughout the party entertaining our guests. Each scene is a different area of the bar; filled with patrons. The venue includes an entry scene that resembles cue-line acting, along with a variety of rooms.

Contest rules: Interested parties should contact Jeff Glatzer at jdglatzer@cox.net. To be considered; you must submit details about your character; including character photo, character bio and list of experience. All final five contestants will be notified of their eligibility through email. 1st place winner receives $50 and a Skull Trophy. Runners-up shall receive a certificate of achievement.

Hauntworld Magazine Reports on Hauntcon 2009


Hauntcon tradeshow was attended by about 400 people who crowded show floors and were able to spend quality time with the different vendors who attended. Vendors report brisk sales. Hauntworld Magazine had a booth and signed up several new subscribers and sold lots of Hauntworld DVD's. The Terror on the Fox haunt tour was attended by roughly 125 people and folks who went raved about the production. The Friday night tour of Morgan Manor and their two other haunted houses was attended by roughly 300 guests, dined on mexican food and then presented an auction. Saturday night was the big costume ball gala and everyone had a great time.

Sunday night there where more haunt tours and Hauntcon extended well into Monday with more seminars from the Wolfe brothers and Pale Eye Productions. All in all Hauntcon was a blast! Hauntcon producer Leonard Pickel announced that next years event will be held in Orlando, Florida. To learn more about Hauntcon 2010 visit their website at wwww.HauntCon.com
